As you probably know by now, I love the creative challenge. Don't get me wrong, I will make mini cupcakes and cake pops until I am blue in the face and fall over dead. And really I don't mind at all. To make someone's party extra special with a mini cupcake or a cake pop or even a specialty cake, that is why I get up in the morning. But I love the creative process of making something that is delicious and beautiful all wrapped up in a cake. And this week I got that chance.
At the Steveston Winter Farmer's Market this past Sunday, we had a fabulous time selling our scrumptious mini cupcakes. We were busy, busy, busy and we had a great time selling. We also had the chance to talk to folks about our cakes. And one thing lead to another, and we had booked three baby cakes. A baby shower, baby's first birthday, and "our baby is getting married"!
We made black forest cake with fresh whipping cream and cherry preserves with vanilla Italian meringue buttercream to decorate. We went with beautiful ivory and pale green baby pram as the baby's sex is a surprise and some small, cute flower details.
